Prayer Challenge

On Sunday we began our study of prayer as a church.  My encouragement was to embrace a simple 3-fold daily challenge:

1.  Come to God with an openness to learn and grow by praying the simple request of Jesus’ disciples:  “Lord, teach me to pray” (Luke 11:1).

2.  Pray through the Lord’s Prayer.

3.  Make space each day for a time of prayer and devotion, taking a step to move beyond what you currently do.

For me this week, so far so good.  How’s it going for you?  Feel free to post your thoughts…

  1. I’ve been praying through the Lord’s prayer…but slowly and deliberately. For each line in the prayer, I’ll pause the reflect, thinking about what it means or just being quiet. Sometimes a scripture comes to mind, or maybe a prompting to pray for a neighbour or a situation.

I’ve found the the Lord’s prayer taking on a new life for me when I do this. It’s become a kind of springboard for other prayers and I find I’m not struggling to find things to pray about.
